Thanks for playing my mod! Be sure to visit "http://www.hackslashmine.net" for the gameplay wiki and the latest details, as well as other projects that I'm working on. Read on for installation instructions. (Sorry that they're so complicated!)

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE INSTALLING:

* The current official launcher WILL NOT work with the client for this mod, as it rewrites any file changes as soon as they're detected. Instead, try using an unofficial launcher like MultiMC, or installing through the Technic Launcher.
* Be sure to run with Java 8 for best compatibility - Java 9 and later may have broken sound and display. The unofficial launchers typically let you choose which Java version to run with, though of course you'll have to install them first.
* If you're missing sounds or other resources, you may need to obtain them legally then copy/paste them into the appropriate directory. (Mojang decided to stop hosting them, oddly enough.) As of Minecraft 1.2.3, these were located at "C:\Users\<YourUserName>\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\resources".
* To install on Windows and Mac, you may need to edit your system settings so that you can both see file extensions and see hidden files (like "C:\Users\<YourUserName>\AppData\").
* Follow the instructions precisely. Copying all the files *within* a folder is different than copying the folder itself!
* When copying all folders within a directory, it's easiest and least error-prone to use Ctrl+A followed by Ctrl+C.
* Assume that all copy operations in these instructions should overwrite files in case of name conflict.

CLIENT INSTRUCTIONS:

If using MultiMC (or any other jar-patcher):
  1) Make a new folder named "mod_bench" wherever you like.
Otherwise, if manually installing:
  1) Legally obtain a copy of "minecraft.jar" for version 1.2.3.
  2) Make a backup copy of it just in case.
  4) Rename the extension from "minecraft.jar" to "minecraft.zip"
  5) Unzip the file into a new directory called "mod_bench". If your OS lacks this capability, use an archive tool such as 7-Zip.
  6) Delete META-INF from "mod_bench".

Then:
  1) Copy all the files within "client" into "mod_bench".
  2) Copy all the files within "lib" into "mod_bench".
  3) (Optional) If desired, install Optifine for version 1.2.3 into "mod_bench", then copy the contents of "optifineFix" into "mod_bench".
  4) Select all the files within "mod_bench", then re-zip them into a new file.

If using MultiMC:
  1) Name or rename the new file to something meaningful, like "hsm_patch_vXXX.jar".
  2) Place your new jar somewhere convenient for organizational purposes.
  3) Install and/or open up MultiMC.
  3) Create a new "instance" within MultiMC, targeting Minecraft version 1.2.3, named "Hack/Mine vXXXX"
  4) Select the new instance, then select "Edit Instance" -> "Version" -> "Add to Minecraft.jar", and select the jar you just made.
  5) Close out the "Edit Instance" Window, then select "Instance Folder".
  6) Copy both the "spells" and "sslib" directories themselves into the ".minecraft" directory within the instance.
  7) Launch your instance through MultiMC, and enjoy!
Otherwise, if manually installing:
  1) Name and relocate your new file to wherever your launcher is expecting. For the old MC launcher, this would be "C:\Users\<YourUserName>\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\bin\minecraft.jar"
  2) Copy both the "spells" and "sslib" directories themselves into the ".minecraft" directory, or the equivalent for your launcher.
  3) Start Minecraft via your launcher and enjoy!

SERVER INSTRUCTIONS:

1) Legally obtain a copy of "minecraft_server.jar" for version 1.2.3.
2) Make a backup copy of it just in case.
3) Rename the extension from "minecraft_server.jar" to "minecraft_server.zip"
4) Unzip the file into a new directory called "server_bench". If your OS lacks this capability, use an archive tool such as 7-Zip.
5) *DO NOT* delete META-INF from "server_bench". (Confusing, I know.)
6) Copy all the files within "server" into "server_bench".
7) Copy all the files within "lib" into "server_bench".
8) Select all the files within "server_bench", then re-zip them into a new file.
9) Name or rename the new file to "minecraft_server.jar".
10) Copy both the "spells" and "sslib" directories themselves into the same folder as your new "minecraft_server.jar"
11) That's it! You can double-click the jar to launch the server, but first, be sure to deal with anything as you normally would for a Minecraft server (i.e. port forwarding, Hamachi setup, launch configuration, etc.) Remember that all players will need to be using the same version of Hack/Mine as the server.
