"Steph's Diary - Part Two", "??????
I’ve began to forget how many nights and days have passed, they've all blurred into one continuous nightmare... a lack of dates is something you’ll have to become accustomed to. Last night though, I was certain I saw something just outside my tent; within touching distance. It’s just your brain Steph I told myself… you’re just imagining things. I’ve been too afraid to go outside for the past few days - at least I think it’s been a few days -, now I think cabin fever has its grasp on me, remembering that movie my children loved: ‘The Shining’, forces me to venture outside, have a nap… My children…My family…

I finally mustered up the courage to take gather some supplies; as I was very low on firewood and general needs. Only gathering in the middle of the day; when the sun is at its peak, 3 days it took for me to be happy with the gathered material and have some proper, well-earned rest. I haven’t seen this ‘creature’ for a few weeks now; maybe it’s migrated, or decided to leave me alone. For whatever reason it is, I’m grateful, maybe I can become more productive.

Hope is a bastard sometimes; you become so relieved that you think maybe it’s not so bad; maybe you’re safe, only to be crushed by your hope and crumble into a pit of fear. I saw him/it whatever it is again, only this time… I’m fairly certain there’s more. I was out hunting, like most days and I became so lost in the thought of the hunt, that I had wandered into the forest, but it seemed different; almost… dead. All the other times I’ve been in there, despite the loneliness, it was still alive; breathing. This time though, it was as though all the life had be sucked out of it, only the hard shell remaining. I first noticed them when the pig I was stalking suddenly disappeared, silently; leaving no evidence of its existence. I stopped in my tracks, paranoia was flooding back as though the gates to that dam were torn down from the pressure as I realized where I was. I bolted towards the opening, clumsily tripping on every other root from the imminent, hollow trees. Right there; so close to freedom, was this towering, lanky and black…human? But this was no human I’ve ever seen before. The eyes…they were terrifying yet some-what absurd. No iris, no pupil, no blackness, no white. Just… purple… I barely escaped, not daring to look into those confronting eyes, afraid of what might happen.

Needless to say, I haven’t been getting much sleep lately, the fear of nightmares and the vulnerability… no… I can’t do it. I can’t handle it any more. I’ve given them a name. The aura of death…of the end has inspired me with a name. Endermen.

Just when I’d given up on all thoughts of survival, an angel sent from heaven above came; some sort or tribe…or maybe villagers. After meeting with them, they accepted me into their group. It’s a small group of rather odd looking folk, but they are warm at heart –even if they are a devil to negotiate trades with-. And then, just when I thought it couldn’t be any better, any more like home, like a family, a sudden arrival of ores, minerals and supplies meant technology could advance; creating quarries, computers... It was amazing, as though some sort of modification had been placed into the world to make everything more…welcoming.

I think my dairy shall come to an end. This journey has been one of many emotions; fear, relief hope… but now, it’s all as if the past were sort of video game but now it’s… real."
